Terms of Service
The ground rules.
These terms apply to your use of the BlackBook app and services. By creating an account or using BlackBook you agree to them. If you use BlackBook through the App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and where these terms conflict with it for App Store matters, Apple's terms govern.
Your account
You sign in with Apple or Google. Keep your device secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 13, and if you are under the age of majority where you live you need a parent or guardian's permission.
Your content
You own what you record, write, and upload. You give us permission to process it only as needed to run BlackBook, such as sending it to our AI provider when you make a request, as explained in the Privacy Policy. Most content stays on your iPad, so keep your own backups of anything important.
Recording responsibly
Only record lectures and conversations you are allowed to record. Follow your school's policies and local laws, get permission when it is required, and respect your instructors' and classmates' privacy and intellectual property. Don't share recordings or course materials in ways you are not permitted to.
Academic integrity
BlackBook can explain material and draft work. You are responsible for how you use it: follow your institution's and instructors' rules on AI assistance, check and edit anything you submit, and disclose AI use where required. BlackBook is a study tool and does not guarantee grades or outcomes.
AI output
AI answers, transcripts, and summaries can be incomplete or wrong, and may misstate what was said in class. Check important information against your course materials. Don't rely on BlackBook for medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
Acceptable use
Don't use BlackBook to break the law, infringe others' rights, harass anyone, generate harmful content, attempt to access other accounts or our systems, get around usage limits (for example with multiple accounts), or resell or automate access to the service.
Plans and subscriptions
The Free plan includes a monthly allowance of recording hours and AI requests. BlackBook Pro, when offered, is an auto-renewing subscription purchased through Apple with a larger monthly allowance. The price is shown before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase, and the subscription renews automatically at the same price for each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID's Subscriptions settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. Allowances reset on the 1st of each month (Bangkok time) and unused allowance does not carry over. We may change plans or prices with advance notice; changes apply from your next renewal.
Availability and changes
We work to keep BlackBook reliable, but it is provided "as is" and may sometimes be unavailable, and recordings can be interrupted by your device. We may update, change, or discontinue features.
Ending
You can stop using BlackBook and delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive ending, such as ownership and liability limits, continue to apply.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BlackBook is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data, or lost grades, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand, without limiting mandatory consumer protections in the country where you live.
